Job Title: SEND English Teacher
Job Type: Full-time, Temporary
Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) English Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Key Stage 3 (KS3) English to students with challenging behaviour and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to the diverse needs of students with ASD and Asperger’s.
Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters positive behaviour management strategies.
Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and assess the progress of students regularly.
Effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behavior, employing appropriate behavior management techniques.
Collaborate with the SENCO, support staff, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to students’ well-being and development.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting effective communication and partnership.
Contribute to the development of a positive school culture that promotes inclusivity and celebrates diversity.
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience teaching English at Key Stage 5, preferably with a focus on Autism and Asperger’s.
Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
Understanding of the social, emotional, and mental health needs of students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
