Role Overview:
As a SEND College Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering tailored educational programs to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Your expertise will help foster an inclusive learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated curricula to meet the diverse needs of SEND students.
- Teaching and Learning: Deliver engaging and accessible lessons across a range of subjects, using varied teaching strategies to support different learning styles.
- Assessment and Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust teaching methods to ensure continuous improvement.
- Support and Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support for students.
- Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with best practices in SEND education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. A specialization in Special Education is highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities, preferably in a further education setting.
- Skills: Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
