Full Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a child with high SEND needs and some challenging behaviour within our dedicated SEND provision. The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex needs and a strong ability to build trusting relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with high SEND needs, ensuring their safety, engagement, and progress.
  • Implement strategies to support learning, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCO to follow individual learning plans (EHCPs).
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Foster a nurturing and structured environment to support the child’s development.
  • Assist with personal care, if required.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with high SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, fostering trust and connection with the learner.
  • Knowledge of communication aids such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC (desirable but not essential).
  • Calm, patient, and resilient in managing challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and SEND best practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £100.00-£130.00 per day

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Experience:

  • SEND: 3 years (preferred)
