We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a child with high SEND needs and some challenging behaviour within our dedicated SEND provision. The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex needs and a strong ability to build trusting relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child with high SEND needs, ensuring their safety, engagement, and progress.
- Implement strategies to support learning, communication, and emotional regulation.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCO to follow individual learning plans (EHCPs).
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
- Foster a nurturing and structured environment to support the child’s development.
- Assist with personal care, if required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with high SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.
- Strong relationship-building skills, fostering trust and connection with the learner.
- Knowledge of communication aids such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC (desirable but not essential).
- Calm, patient, and resilient in managing challenging behaviour.
- Understanding of safeguarding and SEND best practices.
