Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

Contract: Full-Time, 5 Days a Week
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Atherton. This is a full-time role, and we are looking for someone who can provide consistency and long-term commitment to supporting our pupils with SEND. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to provide targeted support, helping to ensure each child reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to develop and deliver tailored learning strategies.
- Support the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Consistently monitor and report on pupils’ progress to the SENDCo and teaching staff.
- Provide emotional and behavioural support to help pupils navigate challenges and develop social skills.
- Assist with general classroom duties as needed and contribute to wider school life.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Extensive experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting.
- A strong understanding of different SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to maintain a calm and nurturing approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to providing consistent and high-quality support to pupils over the long term.
- Relevant qualifications in childcare or education would be beneficial but not essential.
