We are currently seeking a passionate and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team and contribute to the academic and personal growth of our students.

Job Description:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality lessons, provide targeted support to students, and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Lead small group interventions and provide 1:1 support to students, tailored to their individual needs.
  • Cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Support the assessment and tracking of student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reports.
  • Help to manage classroom behaviour, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other personalised learning plans.
  • Engage with parents and carers to provide updates on student progress and support home-school communication.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum resources and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in a school setting.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge: A good understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Personal Attributes: A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to supporting students’ learning. A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.

Education: Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)
Experience: Special education: 2 years (preferred)
