We are currently seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of our students.
Job Description:
You will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and assistance to a student with SEND. You will work closely with the classroom teacher, SEND coordinator, and other professionals to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Learning Materials: Collaborate with teachers to create and adapt learning materials, ensuring they are accessible and suitable for the specific needs of the student.
- Adapt Teaching Support: Tailor your teaching support to meet the individualized needs of the student, including modifying teaching methods and approaches as required.
- Physical, Social, and Emotional Welfare: Provide care and support to ensure the physical, social, and emotional well-being of the student, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
- Create an Interesting Environment: Promote a positive and engaging classroom environment that encourages the student’s active participation in learning.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of the student’s progress, behaviours, and achievements, and share this information with the appropriate team members.
- Attend Review Meetings: Participate in review meetings with parents, teachers, and specialists to discuss the student’s progress, set goals, and make necessary adjustments to the support plan.
- Collaborate with Specialists: Work closely with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to implement strategies and interventions that support the student’s development.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working with students with SEND is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to suit individual student requirements.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
