Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI) Teacher to join an amazing International team based in Qatar. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator passionate about supporting children who are deafblind and/or multi-sensory impaired. The successful candidate will be crucial in delivering high-quality education, fostering independence, and ensuring inclusive learning environments for children with complex sensory needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialised teaching to students with multi-sensory impairments (MSI) or deafblindness, tailoring instructional methods to meet individual needs.
  • Assess and monitor students’ progress, ensuring individualised learning plans are effective and adjusted as necessary.
  • Utilise specialised communication methods, including tactile signing, Braille, and other appropriate techniques, to support deafblind learners.
  • Collaborate closely with families, therapists, and other educational professionals to provide a holistic approach to student development.
  • Adapt and develop curricula and teaching strategies to enhance accessibility and engagement for students with MSI.
  • Conduct home and school-based assessments to evaluate and support the needs of deafblind students.
  • Deliver training and professional development sessions on MSI to staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to track student development and educational outcomes.
  • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to contribute to the overall well-being and academic progress of students.
  • Stay updated with best practices in MSI education, including assistive technologies and emerging instructional methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field with a valid teaching license QTS or equivalent 
  • Specific qualifications for teaching children with deafblindness and/or multi-sensory impairments, or a qualification in teaching children with hearing and/or visual impairments with additional MSI training.
  • Master’s degree preferred in Special Education, Sensory Impairment, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of full-time teaching experience with students who have MSI or deafblindness.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and monitor students’ progress at both pre-school and school levels.
  • Experience designing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs) for children with sensory impairments.
  • Familiarity with Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD) and a willingness to undergo additional training in this area.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in Arabic proficiency (essential for this role).
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications and other educational technologies.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide training and professional development to educators, families, and other professionals working with MSI students.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) methods.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies to support children with MSI.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Passion for inclusive education and advocacy for children with complex sensory needs.
