We are seeking an Arabic-speaking Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI) Teacher to join an International school in Doha and support students with complex learning needs, particularly those with both sensory and communication challenges.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI) Teacher who is fluent in Arabic to work with students with sensory impairments, including those with multiple disabilities and autism. You will play a vital role in developing personalised teaching plans to meet the unique needs of each student and ensure they have the best possible learning experience. The ideal candidate will be skilled in working with students who have both visual and hearing impairments, utilizing a variety of multi-sensory approaches to enhance learning and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with multi-sensory impairments, focusing on their unique sensory, cognitive, and communication needs.
- Use a range of multi-sensory teaching methods and resources to support students’ learning, including tactile, auditory, visual, and kinesthetic approaches.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and teaching assistants, to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s development.
- Provide tailored support to students with both Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and multi-sensory impairments, ensuring that all educational and therapeutic strategies are culturally sensitive and appropriate.
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment that promotes the emotional, social, and academic development of students.
- Assess student progress regularly, adjusting teaching methods and interventions as needed to meet evolving needs.
- Provide regular feedback and collaborate with parents, guardians, and carers, offering strategies to support learning at home and ensure continuity.
- Stay informed on best practices in sensory integration, autism education, and multi-sensory teaching techniques.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with specialised training and MQ in Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI).
- Fluent in Arabic and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
- Experience teaching students with multi-sensory impairments and/or autism, including those with complex needs.
- Knowledge of sensory integration therapies and teaching strategies for students with both visual and auditory impairments.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized learning plans based on the sensory, cognitive, and emotional needs of students.
- Compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with multi-sensory impairments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with parents, colleagues, and external specialists to provide a holistic learning experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
