SEND English Teacher

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND English Teacher to inspire and support our high school students. This role is ideal for an educator who understands the complexities of working with SEND learners, particularly those with ASD, ADHD and other learning needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, accessible, and differentiated English lessons that meet each student’s unique needs.

Duties

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Teach English language skills, including reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing techniques.
• Provide individualised support through tutoring sessions to help students achieve their academic goals.
• Utilise behaviour management strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through regular testing and feedback.
• Collaborate with parents and guardians to discuss student development and address any concerns.
• Incorporate creative teaching methods, including storytelling, role-playing, and multimedia resources.
• Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that accommodates students with special educational needs, including those requiring speech therapy or applied behaviour analysis techniques.

Experience

• Proven experience in teaching English or related subjects is preferred.
• Background in childcare or experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with behaviour management techniques and special education practices will be advantageous.
• Strong proofreading skills to assist students in refining their written work.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey concepts and engage students in learning activities.
