Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated SEND High School Teacher to join our team and lead a brand new cohort of learners with SEND, including those with ASD and ADHD. This role will involve teaching a small, focused class of students, providing individualised support and a curriculum adapted to meet their unique needs.
About the Role: As a SEND High School Teacher, you will play a key role in guiding a small group of students through a carefully adapted national curriculum, broken down into accessible and achievable steps. With a reduced class size, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on building positive, supportive relationships with each learner, creating an inclusive and safe environment where they can thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver differentiated lesson plans based on the national curriculum, tailored to meet each student’s developmental level and specific learning needs.
- Employ a range of engaging, multisensory teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles, fostering academic progress and personal growth.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor and track student progress, adapting learning plans as needed to align with individual goals and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment that supports emotional well-being and positive behaviour, using SEND-specific strategies to manage and guide behaviour.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCO, and external specialists (e.g., speech and language therapists, occupational therapists) to provide a holistic approach to learning and support.
- Engage with parents and caregivers to keep them informed about their child’s progress and share strategies to help reinforce learning at home.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching at the secondary level, ideally in an SEND setting.
- Strong understanding of SEND best practices, differentiation techniques, and adaptive teaching for students with ASD, ADHD, and other learning needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient, empathetic approach to behaviour management and student engagement.
- Organised, proactive, and able to create a supportive classroom environment where each student’s strengths are celebrated and nurtured.
- Comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with both internal and external professionals.
What We Offer:
- A supportive and collaborative environment with a commitment to professional development.
- Opportunities for SEND-specific training to further develop your skills and expertise.
- Small class sizes allow for focused, individualised teaching and support.
- The rewarding experience of helping a new cohort of SEND learners settle into their educational journey, making a lasting impact on their development and confidence.
If you are a compassionate and dedicated teacher with a commitment to SEND education and a desire to help students achieve their fullest potential, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV for this exciting opportunity
