Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Maths Teacher to join our supportive and dynamic team in September. Our school is committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons to small class sizes, ensuring each student’s individual needs are met.
- Track and assess student progress, using data to inform and adapt teaching strategies.
- Implement effective behaviour management techniques to address challenging behaviour, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Develop and adapt learning materials to accommodate a range of learning difficulties and ensure accessibility for all students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support student development and well-being.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to reports and meetings as required.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience, preferably within a SEND setting.
- Proven experience working with students with ASD and ADHD.
- Strong understanding and experience in managing challenging behaviour.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a focus on creating and delivering tailored lesson plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Desirable Skills:
- Additional qualifications or training in SEND education.
- Familiarity with various assistive technologies and teaching aids.
- Experience in implementing sensory and de-escalation techniques.
