Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support the educational development of students, particularly those with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a strong ability to communicate effectively with children, especially those on the autism spectrum. This role involves working closely with teachers to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Duties
- Assist the lead teacher in delivering educational activities and lessons tailored to the needs of students.
- Provide support to children with special educational needs, including those with autism, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interactions among students.
- Communicate effectively with students, fostering an environment where they feel safe and encouraged to express themselves.
- Support individual students in their learning, providing additional assistance as needed, particularly in areas such as literacy and numeracy.
- Participate in planning and preparing educational materials that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Assist with toddler care when required, ensuring their safety and well-being during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and report any concerns to the lead teacher.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or autism, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with students and staff.
- A genuine passion for educating children and supporting their individual needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards fostering children’s development.
- Relevant qualifications in education or childcare would be an advantage but are not essential.
