Job Advertisement: SEND Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Parr, St Helens
Contract: Full-Time, 5 Days a Week

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Parr, near St Helens. This full-time position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners who require additional support. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to ensure that each child is supported in their learning, emotional well-being, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or group support for pupils with SEND needs, helping them access the curriculum.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
  • Monitor and report on pupils’ progress to the SENDCo and teaching staff.
  • Support with classroom management and general teaching assistant duties when needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting
  • A patient, caring, and flexible approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in childcare or education would be advantageous but not essential.
