We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a learner in our independent provision. About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 support for a learner with SEND needs.
- Tailor support to meet the individual’s EHCP goals, ensuring they are fully engaged in learning and making progress.
- Implement differentiated learning strategies, breaking down tasks to make them accessible and achievable.
- Use positive reinforcement and behaviour management techniques to support emotional regulation and engagement.
- Assist with sensory needs, including implementing movement breaks and using sensory resources where appropriate.
- Foster a trusting relationship, acting as a key point of support and encouragement.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure a holistic approach to learning.
- Provide personal care support where required (training can be provided).
About You:
- Experience working with SEND learners in an educational, residential, or care setting.
- Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other additional needs.
- Ability to differentiate tasks and use engaging strategies to support learning.
- Strong behaviour management skills with a calm and patient approach.
- Knowledge of communication aids, such as visual timetables and PECS, is beneficial.
- A team player who can collaborate with staff and external professionals.
- Safeguarding knowledge and an understanding of the importance of keeping learners safe.
