We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team in supporting a primary school student with SEND.

Role and Responsibilities: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting a primary school student with SEND needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to the student during lessons and activities
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting the student in managing their emotions and behaviors
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust support strategies as needed
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Building a trusting and respectful relationship with the student and their family
  • Participating in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs in an educational setting
  • A relevant qualification in childcare or education (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Knowledge of strategies and interventions for supporting children with SEND needs
